| The Gas Station | |
|
In 1955, a young American boy rode his bike alongside the familiar roads of a midwestern town. The tires needed air and so the 3rd-grader turned his bicycle into a gas station. He was getting ready to finish this common task, when suddenly he heard a loud and frightful sound. At that very moment, a terrible accident had occurred and an explosion was set off in the gas station! Thrown by the blast, the boy felt a surge of intense heat, and his clothing was incinerated. When the shock had passed, he slowly realized that not only was he alive… but there was one thing that wasn’t scorched - that was unaffected by the flames. It was his Brown Scapular: a miraculous reminder that the Blessed Mother had saved his life. The young boy survived that day, and grew to manhood. All the rest of his life, the few scars he bore from the explosion were a precious testament to Our Lady’s personal and miraculous protection - one of countless examples of Her loving generosity bestowed through Her Brown Scapular. |
