Saint John Vianney (1786-1859) was the parish priest for Ars, France. His good example and stern rebukes against the evils of his day won him many enemies. They sought for any excuse or opportunity to rid themselves of him. They even wrote a petition to the Bishop pleading that the holy priest be removed and replaced. His enemies went around collecting signatures in order to support their cause. They certainly were shocked to discover one particular name ...
in his great humility St. John Vianney himself had signed the petition!
