where this exchange of hearts took place. And so that no one would doubt the miracle, Christ allowed a scar to stay where the opening had been.

Some of the women who knew St. Catherine witnessed the miraculous sign left by Our Lord and informed others about it. Included amoung the people they told was Blessed Raymond of Capua, her spiritual director. In time, he wrote an account of Catherine’s life, and tells us of his own reaction when he heard of this heavenly phenomena. Apparently, he did not initially believe it, until he heard it from her own mouth.

"When I determined to get to the truth, she herself was obliged to confess to me that this was so, and she added that never afterwards had she been able to say, "Lord, I give You my heart," since He already had it. "

All things are possible with God and on this occasion He choose to literally accomplish what He desires to symbolically achieve with each of us: a complete union of our hearts, our will and our love, with His before we die. Let us pray to Saint Catherine that she helps us to give our whole mind, heart and will to God, and ask Him to give us His.
